B10
Dazed- directed by Kayla Snodgrass, was an adaption of my story board. I would like to start with the fact that I enjoyed her adaptation. While it was a take I did not intended, it was very interesting and the music choice added great suspense. The idea behind my story board was to portray a toxic roommate situation. The fight scene at the ed was intended to be more verbal than physical. The idea was to have a very dramatic scenario but horror was not what I had in mind. The video created took a more drastic turn. The fear of the main character was more than I expected. The sequence with the fire extinguisher was not included in my original story board. I wish the story had a little more context as to why the main character was so scared when he came back to the house.
The overall shooting of the video was very well done. I like the shots in the beginning that were sped up; it fits the pace of the music very well. The shakiness of the camera also added an element of suspense to the video. I do not believe this video was done badly by any means; we both had a different way of envisioning the storyboard in our heads. I think it is interesting that two people can envision something completely different while looking at the same piece of paper. For that, I think there is great value.
I would have filmed this video using more dialogue. The conversation between the two roommates would have intense conversation. Yelling and obvious frustration would have been visible in their faces and actions. This was not included in my story board, it was something I envisioned. Therefore I cannot blame the director for her take. From this experience I learned how difficult it is to create a storyboard. The elements I did not even think to include; I just assumed the person filming it would understand. The details that is required to go into a storyboard or script were far greater than I had ever imagined.
